I pride myself on offering the best possible Key West boating charters for people visiting this southernmost paradise. Choosing a charter in Key West can be tough, because let's face it...there are a bazillion. But let me share a little secret - most of us in the industry are doing very similar charters.

 

So how do you choose? Over my years of experience, what makes the significant difference for people is quality.

Nothing wrong with it if you are looking, but if you want a party vibe experience on an overcrowded boat, I don't book those. Plenty in Key West, so you will find them.

The charters I book are private OR small group public, semi-private excursions. I am convinced people get the very best Key West experience from these. A non-crowded boat charter allows for a more intimate and peaceful experience with nature. Additionally, your Captain is also able to engage more personally with you about the trip, share facts about Key West, and offer a more personalized/safe teaching situation - especially with important things like how to snorkel.

A perk of booking through So Key West is that all private charters can request to have me, Captain Nikki, as your charter captain. Of course you do not have to, but if you wish to know who you will be spending hours with on the water - then feel free to pick me! Much of my chartering experiences have been with bachelorette parties, family trips, micro weddings, ashes memorials, and engagements! (Pro tip: tie a string on the ring when you're popping the question on a boat...just trust me.)

My goal is to offer know-before-you-go booking. What do I mean by that? As a boat captain, I'm over the gimmicky marketing spiels too. I'm convinced if you just give people an honest expectation of what they can experience (and don't add on hidden fees), they will be overjoyed with the booking experience. I cannot tell you how many times a concierge has booked guests for me to take on a charter and promised them whatever would just...land the booking. Then I'm left to clean up the confusion and hope to give them what they want. No hidden stuff with me - upfront details are what I wish to present to all customers.

 

Weather, tide, water conditions, wind, visibility, currents, seasonal changes, etc etc can affect boat trip itinerary daily in Key West. So always keep that in mind. However, realize that with a knowledgeable local captain, we have multiple locations and options to choose from calculating all these uncontrollable factors. The shallow waters down here can be tricky so book only experienced captains.
